The use of Backing Tracks isn't only for karaoke singers however for performing artists too. If you're in a band of any sort than the information is so that you can help bring your act one stage further. Especially if you're performing in certain sort of tribute act or cover band.

For a long time I've been singing and playing in several rock bands but for the greater part happen to be very well received in front of audiences. Until not too long ago I would be inclined to pick songs that we performed depending on how accurately we might represent that song from a stage. Which is, could we cover all the required parts that will make a song popular and take action justice. From time to time a song belly along that required keyboards that have been so important within the song how the song was just not worth doing without it. We would not be able to do it justice. So, rather than ruin the song we'd put it on the shelf like a song we wished we're able to do. I didn't see the sense in hiring a full-time keyboard player to try out in 20% with the songs at best so it made more sense never to do the song.

Since the time continued of course I joined a band which was using backing tracks to cover piano parts in songs and also complex backing vocals and instantly realized what those tracks can be worth to a performer. That resulted in the very difficult backing vocals could possibly be spot on each and every time and the back up singers could sing easier lines when playing live, giving the back ups plenty of depth. It also meant obviously that the music was greatly enhanced. The average audience member really doesn't pick up on a band using tracks. All they realize is that this band sounds far better than the band the other day but don't really know why. The answer then is in the tracks. Control singer can harmonize to his own voice more easily than somebody else can do it so he should be the one getting recorded. Try not to put in a lot of though otherwise you risk the show becoming a karaoke act.

An important point to consider is exactly what to do when you have technical problems. You must have a way out. You have to know your show. I have been onstage and had the computer monitor system fail and not been able to hear the backing tracks and had to count on the drummer keeping perfect time. Using the tracks he's got a click track in the left ear he should at least be able to keep time. He has got the click from the pre-recorded track which has a click track on the one hand and the song sample on the other side. Using a small mixer on stage he is able to send the music activity the main mixing console and nobody in the audience will hear the clicking track.

Using backing tracks are a great way to give your show a very competitive edge and set you apart make up the rest of the bands in your circuit, area, etc. I'll always use them now and am pleased to because every one of the songs i put on the shelf in the years passed by can now be done properly.
